Sayaka reports to her husband that a housekeeper has been sent to the house opposite. Despite her husband's suspicious reaction, she is happy that she will have less stress to deal with. The next day, Sayaka goes to work in high spirits. The owner of the house, Sakamoto, is a quiet man who makes his living as a calligrapher. Then, one day, three weeks later, while at work, Sayaka breaks a plate that Sakamoto had displayed. Wanting to pay for the plate, which looks expensive, Sayaka says, "I'll pay with my body."
